Sons of Pitch­es FC to Host Third Rooftop Soc­cer Tournament

Atlanta, Geor­gia — Octo­ber 20, 2016 — Sons of Pitch­es FC (SOPFC) will con­tin­ue inno­vat­ing and inspir­ing Atlanta with their third Rooftop Soc­cer Tour­na­ment as part of their larg­er ini­tia­tive to trans­form high­ly-acces­si­ble but under­used space into active space nec­es­sary for urban res­i­dents and work­ers to main­tain healthy lifestyles.

Join SOPFC and over 1,000 atten­dees from Fri­day, Nov 4 to Sun­day, Nov 6 in the heart of Mid­town at the Cen­ter­gy Park­ing Deck locat­ed adja­cent to Square on Fifth (SQ5), Cen­ter­gy, and the Tech Square Research Building.

Portable Drag­on Goal turf soc­cer are­nas with top net­ting will be set up on the rooftop of the 8‑story Cen­ter­gy Park­ing Deck building.

Last year’s Fall Rooftop Tour­na­ment in Down­town Atlanta fea­tured 56 teams and over 1,000 par­tic­i­pants and spec­ta­tors. This year is expect­ed to be big­ger than ever, thanks to new rela­tion­ships with key com­mu­ni­ty lead­ers, includ­ing TechSquareATL.com and Sand­box ATL.

Both Rooftop Tour­na­ments sold out quick­ly last year, so inter­est­ed play­ers are encour­aged to sign up as soon as pos­si­ble to par­tic­i­pate in one of Atlanta’s most inno­v­a­tive annu­al events. Reg­u­lar pric­ing ends Thurs­day, Oct 27, and the final reg­is­tra­tion dead­line is Wednes­day, Nov 2. Each play­er reg­is­tra­tion includes a 2016 Rooftop Tour­na­ment t‑shirt.

In accor­dance with SOPFC’s mis­sion to trans­form pub­lic spaces, founder Christo­pher Wedge will speak on a pan­el along­side City of Atlanta Urban Agri­cul­ture Direc­tor Mario Cam­bardel­la at the Cen­ter for Civic Inno­va­tion in late Novem­ber about the suc­cess of the Rooftop Tour­na­ment in a wide-rang­ing dis­cus­sion about green roofs and acti­vat­ing pub­lic spaces.
